Program

FINE stands for, Family and Infant Neurodevelopmental Education. FINE is the only programme that gives neonatal professionals of all disciplines opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in steps that can be paced to their career needs, from orientation for beginners, to developing competent practice or leadership. FINE programs assist to bridge the gap between theory and practice with a range of learning opportunities that can be adapted to different settings.
FINE Level 2: Practical Skills is a structured, self-directed programme with content covered in 12 units that include infant observations, assignments that evaluate practice, prompts for encouraging parent and staff participation and reflective submissions that are sent to a mentor for feed-back. The program takes 6 months to complete and is delivered virtually. It is a pre-requisite that FINE Level 1 is completed prior to enrolling in FINE 2.
Who should do this training?
FINE Level 2 is an online program developed by health professionals who are experts in individualised developmental care for health professionals working in the neonatal setting. It is suitable for:
- Hospital Doctors: Interns, Resident Medical Officers, Career Medical Officers, Registrars Fellows and Neonatologists.
- Nurses: Newly employed Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses. Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Educators and Nurse Managers.
- Midwives: working in or working across the neonatal unit.
- Health professionals: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Dieticians, Pharmacists, and any other allied health professional working in the neonatal unit.
- Students: Medical, Nursing, and Allied health students.
What you will learn
The FINE Level 2 Program consists of self-directed learning activities and focus on evaluating practices and integrating knowledge within the individual's clinical setting. The program is structured on the three principles of FINE education:

- Every baby

The FINE Level 2 Program is currently priced at $2000+GST.

On successful completion
You will be able to -
- Incorporate behavioural observation into infant care.
- Adapt caregiving to maximise comfort and promote development.
- Use active listening skills to facilitate parents’ understanding of their baby.
- Confidently support parent-infant contact and promote partnerships in caregiving.
- Influence others through demonstration of good practice.
- Evaluate their own strengths and challenges as developmental care practitioners.
- Evaluate current practice on their unit and identify possibilities for change.
