What will I gain?

Introduction

Recurrent Abdominal Pain

Learn about the pathophysiology of abdominal pain, how to develop a systematic approach to investigation and treatment strategies directed towards organic & non-organic factors causing abdominal pain.

The Vomiting Child

Learn how to rapidly assess the vomiting child and initiate and manage rehydration and resuscitation according to severity.

Gastroenteritis

Understand the aetiology, learn how to differentiate between gastroenteritis and other common causes of vomiting and diarrhea. and assess the severity of dehydration and implement a management plan.

The Acute Abdomen

Learn how to assess acute abdominal pain systematically, differentiate between the various causes based on clinical assessment and investigation, and formulate an appropriate management plan.

Intussusception and Bowel Obstruction

Learn to understand the common causes and clinical features of bowel obstruction in children, the pathophysiology of intussusception, its various presentations, and the approach to management.

Constipation and Faecal Incontinence

Learn how to assess, investigate, diagnose and manage constipation and faecal incontinence in children.

Chronic Diarrhoea and Malabsorption

Learn about the physiology of the GI tract in relation to chronic diarrhoea, and the diagnostic approaches for both chronic watery diarrhoea and steatorrhoea.

Coeliac Disease

Learn how to identify liver disease in infants, facilitate appropriate investigations and develop a management plan with consideration of treatment options and prognosis.
