- Manage a child with a common childhood disability appropriately, including referral for additional review/services/support
- Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers regarding their child's condition

What will I gain?
Access will be granted for 12 months to complete the course. A completion certification will be awarded for 5 hours to self-submit for CPD recognition.

Developmental DisabilitiesLearn to understand the health implications of disability, the assessment process and aims of early diagnosis, and the ongoing health promotion and disease prevention in long term care. |
Neural Tube DisordersLearn to understand the pathophysiology and prevention of neural tube defects, explore treatment options, develop a multidisciplinary management plan, and recommend strategies to support learning, development, and quality of life. |
Cerebral PalsyUnderstand cerebral palsy, its co-morbidities, and classification systems; distinguish spasticity from dystonia; recognise red flags for alternative diagnoses; know when to conduct hip surveillance; and explore a range of interventions. |
Hearing Loss and Deafness in ChildrenLearn the importance of universal newborn hearing screening, the causes and management of permanent childhood hearing loss and how to implement an appropriate management plan. |
Accessing the NDISLearn current evidence supporting early intervention and how to determine if a child is eligible for NDIS support as well as provide evidence and assistance for a NDIS application. |
Genetics/Genomics in PaediatricsLearn how to assess the different types of genetic testing in clinical practice, the associated counseling challenges, and how to support families through genetic diagnoses, including the role of genetic counseling and support groups. |
