Course learning outcomes:

  2. Apply a systematic approach to the assessment of a child concerning food allergy & intolerance, obesity, Coeliac Disease and common growth disorders
  3. Manage a child with a nutrition-related diagnosis, including referral for additional review/services/support
  4. Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers

What will I gain?

Lactation and its challenges

Learn the importance of breastmilk and breastfeeding, common lactation problems and effective strategies to enable long term breastfeeding success.

Infant Nutrition and Toddler Feeding

Learn the recommendations for fluids and foods for infants and toddlers as well as common nutritional issues and how to encourage healthy eating behaviour.

Faltering Growth

Learn how to detect faltering growth, determine organic and non-organic causes and develop a comprehensive management plan.

Anaphylaxis Management

Learn how to recognise and manage various severities of allergic reaction in children.

Food Allergies – IgE-mediated

Learn the immune mechanisms involved in food allergy, how to assess the clinical presentation and develop a care plan for ongoing management.

Food Intolerances

Learn about the differences between food allergy and intolerance, how to develop and approach to investigation and management to maximise long term outcomes.

CMP allergy

Learn how to recognise the red-flag symptoms of CMPA, and how to develop both short- and long-term management strategies to improve patient outcomes.

FPIES
